Minimalism, Authenticity, and Failure – Success Unscrambled Podcast

Minimalism, Authenticity, and Failure – Success Unscrambled Podcast

Success Unscrambled Podcast(Last Updated On: )

Taking a quick break from frugality in April to inspire anyone who dreams of starting a blog, a simpler life, or feels currently like a failure. Don’t worry, failure is temporary. It always is!

Authenticity

Recently, I participated in a podcast. The podcast focuses on successful blogs with a variety of viewers per month. Perhaps I’ve tricked you into thinking that my current blog is a success. It’s a failure, but it won’t be a permanent failure. Some day it will be self sufficient. With only 3,000 views per month, it’s not enough to captivate large companies or products to monetize the content.

I am holding out for a way to monetize my blog that is authentic. Perhaps it will be with the book I am writing, or the course I create next year. Whatever the case, I want it to represent minimalism, which is difficult since I write a lot about stuff that I don’t buy. How could I be truly authentic with my content while then pushing products I don’t wish to consume?

I Sell Ideas

Consequently, what I realized after the podcast interview is that I’m in the industry of selling ideas. I always have been. As a teacher I sell ideas daily. It’s in the form of motivation, literacy strategies, writing skills, and humor. Ideas are usually not immediately lucrative, but they have the potential for massive growth. Ideas are investments for the greater good of humanity, which can’t necessarily be measured by clicks.

Please check out the podcast to learn more about blogging collaborations, failures, a little about me, and “minimalist-lite” a term I blurted out during the interview. Linked below! 🙂

    Yes, I agree!
I´m a writer too and the only reason I started blogging was because I thought it would be a way to find and connect with my audience so I don´t sell anything either (except for my next book, I´m giving the first one away to anyone who subscribes).
It may take longer to sell and idea than a product but can we put a price on peace of mind?

I feel ya! I’m just enjoying journey as much as I can. Happy to live in an age where I can just publish my thoughts in my own home? It’s crazy!

Always an eye opener when a blogger realizes this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. Tons of work and time.

  3. I’ve been reading a ton of books lately about blogging and every single one stresses authenticity!

People think blogging is soooooooo easy but it’s not! It’s one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever had, and also one of the most rewarding!

  5. I can somewhat understand. Blogging is not easy. It is a constant state of vulnerability. And it is a lot of work. Most days I love it. Some days are a little bit more difficult.

I started blogging as a creative outlet not to sell anything. Not sure if I ever will. Love the comment below me about “can we put a price on a piece of mind?” Couldn’t have said it better.

  7. How long have you been blogging? I’m about three months in and it is way harder than I ever could have imagined. Even harder with a job and young children alongside. But I am really enjoying the journey and the opportunity to learn a whole new industry. Keep going, persistence is everything!

      Hi Rachel,
Almost a year…. If I would have known how much work it was, I never would have started, but I think that about a lot of major life decisions too. 🙂 I still really enjoy it, and because I’ve cut out so many other activities that don’t bring me as much joy, even if this turns into a hobby, it’s still a fun hobby. Try to set realistic goals and be consistent. This has helped my mental health. 🙂 Same I work full time and have a daughter. Good luck! I’m going to check your blog out now. 🙂
