Build Your Dream Wardrobe With a Personal Stylist

Build Your Dream Wardrobe With a Personal Stylist

(Last Updated On: March 11, 2020)

Did you know that you only get 7 seconds to make a first impression? That’s what Kat Depner of Seven Styling wants you to remember the next time you pick out your outfit. Kat is a personal stylist from Portland, Oregon and a mastermind when it comes to making multiple outfits out of a few simple pieces. You deserve to feel like the queen you are and now is the time. Let’s help you build your dream wardrobe with a personal stylist service.

I recently connected with Kat for a personal styling session in my home, and the results were incredible. She helped me transition from a frumpy mom in yoga pants, to a stylish boss lady ready to run the day.

For those who want the goods now… here is the direct link to The Seven Styling Subscription Service! Use the code “literallysimple” to get a 10% discount on any of Seven Styling’s Services from March 12th-26th!

Sustainable Fashion

Do you long to be more concious of your wardrobe but don’t know how? Do you want to stop buying into the fast fashion industry and transition to second hand fashion? Enter Kat Depner. The clothes she personally shops for are found at consignment shops around Portland. They are lightly consigned items that are high in quality and are in excellent condition. In fact, the way I met Kat was from my business partner here at Literally Simple, Maria. She used Kat’s services and I was so impressed by the beautiful pieces, I wanted to use Kat’s services as well.

You can read about Maria’s styling session with Kat HERE.

Meet the Personal Stylist

Kat Depner- Sevenstyling.com

Before going any further, I want you all to get a feeling for who Kat is and how she approaches fashion. Aside from being a kind, friendly, and humorous individual, she is a true professional. It’s different when you actually work with a professional stylist verses a friend who may have an interest in fashion. Kat has an eye for style and creating a wardrobe that most don’t.

Kat states,

“I’ve always been a creative person, and I’ve found that I’m continually inspired by the endless possibilities in fashion. I love that one person’s cast-off can be another person’s dream look, and I’m truly passionate about playing with people and their clothes to help create the look that makes them feel 100% comfortable in their own skin. That’s really the heart of Seven Styling – to create a way for people to authentically express who they are. And I love using what already exists – consigned clothing – to customize the perfect impression someone wants to make.”

Recap of the Session

So, what happens during a personal styling session with Kat? I actually had no idea and was a little nervous. This small-town country girl has never been styled and was pleasantly surprised. Kat was honest, warm and professional. There was not an inkling of judgement. She helped me become confident in my own skin through the carefully shopped clothes she brought to my home.

The best part of the experience was how she made the outfits so versatile around my life. She sent me a questionnaire before the session that helped her get to know me, what clothes I often wear, what I do during a typical day and my style icons (Hint- Kristin Cavallari and Jennifer Aniston).

During my day I could go from dropping my kids off at school, to a coffee meet-up, to the grocery store, and ending the day at a dinner date with the hubby. I’m sure you have a similar schedule. Women are busy these days, and often times our typical day consist of many different roles. If we are being honest with ourselves, most of us get complacent and wear comfy yoga pants or jeans every other day because we don’t have time or energy for creating outfits.

That’s where Kat shines. She offers an alternative to the frumpy yoga pants. Here are a few examples of how Kat created multiple outfits out of just one simple piece:

The Chambray

I love the multifunctional Chambray shirt that Kat picked for me. I can tuck it in like the above picture for a lunch with friends. It is also perfectly worn un-tucked and loose with a cute pair of pants for a trip to the farmer’s market or running errands. Or, tie the ends together in a mid-drift knot at the bellybutton and pair it with a pencil skirt for a sexier look.

The Blazer

Kat picked this cute blazer because she knew I could wear it when I have presentations, speaking events, interviews or business meetings. It instantly makes a blouse and dress pants look put together and professional.

The Dress and the Maxi Cardigan

Can you believe this beautiful dress and maxi cardigan are second hand fashion? These two items looked brand-new and were in excellent condition (all the clothes were for that matter)! The dress is super flattering and was my favorite piece. I could wear it to a nice dinner with the hubby or a pair it with the cardigan on cooler nights out on the town. Kat also gave me many ideas on ways to pair the cardigan with my current wardrobe.

She has talent, right?!

The Coveted Capsule Wardrobe

What is so cool about Kat’s service, is that she can help you create your dream capsule wardrobe. She appreciates what clothing items are merely trendy and what pieces will last years. Then, she incorporates the pieces that she brings into your current wardrobe.

Long gone are the days where women go to the department store and load up on piles of cheap clothes. Nope, we want the simple, classic pieces that make our closet look like something Marie Kondo would wake up to. We want fewer choices, but higher quality. Less laundry and more multifunctionality.

That is why three to seven articles of clothing per month is just the perfect number.

A smart gal would use her services to create a capsule wardrobe for each season. That’s why I love her styling package. She allows women to be flexible and choose how many months they want to subscribe. You could choose to meet with her in-between seasons to create that beautiful Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter capsule wardrobe.

Or, don’t buy another new article of clothing again and use her subscription service every month. If you don’t want to contribute to the fast fashion industry anymore… this is a simple solution. You will save hours at the department store and become a more ethical shopper when you invest in a personal stylist subscription service.

A Note About Longevity

One other service Kat provided at the end of our session together was to teach me how to care for each piece of clothing I received from her. Again, this is the difference in working with a professional. She taught me how each piece should be washed, dried, cleaned, spot treated and cared for to help my clothes stand the test of time.

Final Words

Literally Simple - Minimalism for Women

I gained so much by meeting Kat and learning from her on how to create a conscious, sustainable, multi-functional and flattering wardrobe. I don’t rush to the department store anymore to grab whatever cheap item is on sale, then awkwardly try to mix the piece into my wardrobe. That usually just creates more clutter in the form of clothes I only wear once and then discard in less than a year.
